Inauguration of Mini Coffee Curing Works at Chintapalli

Coffee cultivation and production in Andhra Pradesh is gaining momentum through various schemes implemented by Coffee Board and ITDA, Paderu. The schemes in the IX th and Xth plan programs proved to a highly successful. At present around 20,000 Ha is under coffee cultivation. Out of this 8,000 Ha is under bearing area producing 2,900 Mts annually. By the end of Xth Five Year Plan program, the bearing area is estimated to be around 15,000 Ha and the production is likely to attain 7,000 MTs.

The introduction of Quality upgradation schemes providing pulper units under Self Help Group programs have resulted in producing quality parchment bidding audio to age old tradition of cherry coffee. Further, a step forward commissioning of Mini Coffee Curing works is a boon to the tribal coffee growers to produce quality coffee.

The Mini coffee works established at Chintapalli was inaugurated on 18th December 2003 by Ms. Lakshmi Ventakachalam, Chairperson will serve 22000 coffee growers. An extent of 2.70 acres was allotted free of cost by the State Government for establishment of curing works at Chintapalli. The machinery has been supplied and installed by M/s. Mckinnon India (Pvt. ) Ltd., Coimbatore.

Coffee Board in "Food Tech - 2003" Kolkata

Coffee Board participated in the Food Tech 2003 4th International Exhibition held in Kolkata from 1st to 4th November 2003. In the attractive stall set up by the Coffee Board, the various exportable grades of coffees, posters, publications on coffee etc were on display. The visitors to the stall were welcomed with a cup of coffee prepared out of special blends of Indian Coffee. The Boards' participation was organized by Shri. Guatam K Roy, Sales OfficesA.

Coffee Board Participates in "Foodpro 2003" at Chennai

Coffee Board participated in the Foodpro 2003 exhibition at Chennai from 13th to 16th December 2003. This event held at Chennai Trade Centre, was organised by Confederation of Indian Industry. Coffee Board had set up an attractive stall displaying samples of various grades of coffee besides colour blowups and posters. Liquid coffee was served to the visitors during the exhibition. Sri. A. Prakash, Sales officer of the Board organized and conducted Boards' Participation.
