Coffee Board in Prodexpo - 04, Moscow

Coffee Board participated in the Prodexpo 2004, held at Moscow, Russia from 9-13 February 2004 and organised two BuyerSeller Meets in Moscow and in Kiev ,Ukraine coinciding with it on 11th and 16th February.

At Prodexpo the Board's stall had displayed panels depicting various coffee growing regions of Karnataka along with the exportable grades of Indian Coffee, literatures etc., The Indian exporters viz., M/s Narasu's Coffee Co., and M/s JFK International also displayed their Instant coffee products.

The Indian Ambassador to Russia Shri. K.Raghunath visited the stall on 12th February 2004 and was appreciative of the Indian exporters who have re-launched coffee products using the erstwhile " Indian Instant coffee" designs that were used extensively during the Soviet Union era. He also appreciated the launch of the regional logos for Indian coffees by the Coffee Board, which would be of immense help in exporting coffees that have specific geographic locations from India. The Resident Director of ITPO, Shri. R.K.Chopra and the Director of Tea Board, Shri. Sumit Jerath also visited our stall. The coffee traders and the general public appreciated the quality and aroma of Indian Coffee served during the fair.

The first ever Buyer-Seller-Meet in Russia was organised by Coffee Board at Hotel Radisson with the assistance of Embassy of India on 11th February 2004. It was presided over by Shri. Sanjivi Kohli, Counselor (Comm) Embassy of India, Moscow. A presentation on Indian Coffee and screening of the Boards films on Indian Coffee was made. This was followed by Dinner which facilitated very helpful interaction with the scores of Russian trader invitees.

A similar Buyer-Seller-Meet with the Ukrainian coffee trade was organized at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce Hall at Kiev on 16th February 2004. This was presided by Ms. Subashini, Counselor (Comm.), Embassy of India, Kiev. The event started with a presentation of "Indian coffees and the Ukraine" highlighting the past and the present status of Ukrainian coffee market for Indian coffees; current position of Indian coffee in Ukraine and the potential for Indian coffee trade in Ukraine. This was followed by Dinner. The Buyer-Seller-Meet led to very active interaction with the Ukrainian coffee traders.

The Board's participation was organized by Shri. Nitin R. Gokarn, Secretary and Shri.R.M.Vijaykumar, Senior Liaison Officer of the Board.
